नई दिल्ली, 29 मार्च 2024|आयकर विभाग ने कांग्रेस पार्टी को लगभग 1,700 करोड़ रुपए का नोटिस भेजा है, जिससे 2024 के लोकसभा चुनावों से पहले उसकी वित्तीय चुनौतियाँ और बढ़ गई हैं। यह कार्रवाई दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय द्वारा चार मूल्यांकन वर्षों के लिए पुनर्मूल्यांकन कार्यवाही का विरोध करने वाली पार्टी की याचिका को खारिज करने के बाद हुई है।
ताजा मांग में आकलन वर्ष 2017-18 से 2020-21 तक जुर्माना और ब्याज शामिल है। कांग्रेस वर्तमान में रविवार को निर्धारित समय सीमा के साथ तीन अतिरिक्त मूल्यांकन वर्षों के लिए अपनी आय के पुनर्मूल्यांकन की उम्मीद कर रही है।
कांग्रेस के वकील और राज्यसभा सांसद, विवेक तन्खा ने नोटिस प्राप्त होने की पुष्टि करते हुए आईटी विभाग की कार्रवाइयों को अलोकतांत्रिक और अनुचित बताते हुए इसकी आलोचना की है और आरोप लगाया है कि लगभग 1,700 करोड़ रुपए का नवीनतम नोटिस आवश्यक दस्तावेजों के बिना जारी किया गया था।
